Girona filmfest to host Iran’s ‘Wooden Sword’

Iran’s ‘Wooden Sword’ is to vie at the Girona filmfest in Spain.

Iranian short ‘Wooden Sword’ has been set to take part in the Girona Film Festival (Festival de Cinema de Girona) in Spain.

Sousan Salamat and Behzad Alavi’s short flick will hit the screen at the 33rd edition of the Spanish event.

‘Wooden Sword’ tells the story of two little boys who meet and make friends over the meadow, while their fathers are involved in a quarrel over a big issue on the other side of the same meadow.

The cast list of the flick includes Ahoura Salmani, Armin Farajzadeh-Motlaq, Sara Davari, Hamed Souri and Mehdi Niazi.

The film has already participated in a number of global events, including the Directed by Women film festival in Turkey, the Oxford International Short Film Festival in the UK, and the Queens World International Film Festival in the US.

The Girona Film Festival aims to give room to emerging filmmaking talents to flourish. The event will host around 400 films, including features, shorts, documentaries and animations.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for November 9-13.
